Our position on third-party material

HollywoodCGFX reports on visual effects work. Posts include film stills, trailer clips, posters, and embedded video from studios, vendors, and artists. That material stays the property of its owners. We use it for news reporting, commentary, criticism, and education, which we believe is fair use under 17 U.S.C. 107. We credit sources and link back wherever we can.

Embedded video plays from the rights holder’s own channel on YouTube, Vimeo, or a similar service. We do not host it, and removing it at the source removes it here.

If you own material used here

Email admin@hollywoodcgfx.com and tell us which post and which item. Most requests are settled the same way: we take it down, add the credit you want, or swap it for an image you would rather we use. You do not need a formal notice for that.

Filing a DMCA notice

If you would rather file a formal notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, send it to our designated agent:

Frank Rivera
DMCA Agent, HollywoodCGFX
admin@hollywoodcgfx.com

Your notice must include all of the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or of a person authorized to act for them.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  3. The URL of each page on this site carrying the material, with enough detail for us to locate it.
  4. Your address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.

We act on valid notices promptly.

Counter notice

If we removed your material and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, send a counter notice to the same address. It must include your physical or electronic signature, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your name, address, and telephone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your district, or, if you are outside the United States, of any district in which we may be found.

Repeat infringers

We block commenters and contributors who repeatedly post infringing material.

False claims

Under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), anyone who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing, or was removed by mistake, can be held liable for damages.
