This District 9 trailer previews Neill Blomkamp’s 2009 debut, produced by Peter Jackson on a modest $30 million budget. Vancouver studio Image Engine served as lead VFX vendor, creating the film’s alien ‘prawns’ entirely in CG (originally planned as suits with digital supplements) along with the mothership and CG vehicles, work that earned the film an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects.
